It means you’re going to have a really good time solving a murder without ever having to leave your office chair, sounds great right!
Just like our in-person shows, this show is all about making sure you have a good time. So remember to relax and just have fun with it.
See below for suggestions so you can make the most of your upcoming virtual event!
Your Show: Bullets in the Bathtub
Mob Bosses, Flappers and bootleggers abound at Trixie’s Speakeasy during The Roaring 20s. There are lots of rowdy characters at this event but none so dangerous as Harry “Bullets” Hyde. When Harry comes around, it’s inevitable that somebody ends up “sleepin with the fishes!
Common Questions
-How do I join the event?
You’ll find the link to the zoom event in your email. When the time for your event comes, just click that link. Once you are let into the virtual room, you’ll be automatically transported to “The Alley behind Trixie’s Speakeasy” (that’s where we are all meeting before the event!) Once there, you’ll receive the part you’ll be playing and can interact with your fellow audience members and our professional actors via the zoom chat. The rest …is a mystery!
-How Long is the show?
Jest Murder Mystery Co Virtual Shows last around 90 minutes. 60 minutes of that is the actual show. The remaining time is divided between a virtual cocktail reception so everyone can arrive and receive their parts and a short break between acts 1 and 2.
-What will I need to participate in the virtual show?
- You’ll need to download the latest free version of Zoom prior to the event (Download Here)
- We highly recommend you use a laptop or desktop computer to participate in the show.
- You’ll need a microphone, camera and decent lighting. Most laptops come with microphones and cameras pre-installed so check your device to see if you have what you need. If your room is dark, you can set up some lamps so we can see your glowing face!
- We recommend that you sit at a desk, table or in a chair during the event. Sometimes we’ll ask you to act quickly so if you are in a lounging position, you may miss your moment.
- A strong internet connection is very important and you’ll need to turn off any competing devices that might be using up your bandwidth (like that gamer in the other room, your smart tv, other computers, etc.)

Costume Inspiration
If you really want to get in the mood for virtual murder, dress up like your favorite 1920’s icon
The Flapper
Fun and flirty, flappers love a good time and a good bottle of gin! …Well really, ANY bottle of gin!
Tips: A steamy cocktail dress with plenty of fringe and sequins will do the trick. Add a cropped wig (or lots of curls) and a feather or cloche hat to take it to the next level. Bring it all together with accessories such a pearls, gloves, earrings and of course, a super long cigarette holder!
The Modern Woman
Focused and determined, these ladies are ready to take on the world!
Tips: A sensible, straight-hanging dress is the ticket, sometimes cinched just below the waist with a wide band. Then add a nice cropped, waived hair style or a low bun topped with a tasteful hat. Tie it all together with a scarf and gloves!
The Bootlegger
Hard working but always up for hanging with a good crowd, these partiers delivered the fun to any secret speakeasy party.
Tips: A pair of slacks and a button up shirt will be a nice start. Add a pair of suspenders or vest to take it to the next level. Bring it all together with a good fedora or flat cap (those are hats).
The Mobster
These professionals don’t take no lip and definitely no prisoners. Watch yourself or you might end up sleepin with da fishes!
Tips: Start with a good lookin suit and tie, mob bosses are always dressed to the nines! Add a fedora for that classic look that says, “back off…or I’ll use my tommy gun on ya!” Bring it all together with a real good “wise guy” look and a stogie.

Follow these recipes to enjoy the most popular drinks at Trixie’s Speakeasy!
The Bootlegger’s Negroni
Try this negroni recipe if you’re in the mood to run some booze! This bold contender is guaranteed to put a zip in your step and fuel in your tank.
- 1 ounce Campari
- 1 ounce gin
- 1 ounce sweet or semi-sweet red vermouth
- orange peel
Put all ingredients (except the orange peel) in a shaker with ice. Then stir or shake to chill your tasty beverage and strain into a glass with , you guessed it, more ice. Grab that orange peel and slide it around the edge of the glass then garnish with the peel.
Cherry’s Red Death
Fruity and sweet, this popular Trixie’s Speakeasy drink is best enjoyed when hanging with fun, flirtatious flappers. Boop boop bee doop!
- 1 ounce Southern Comfort
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1/2 ounce sloe gin
- 1/2 ounce triple sec
- 1/2 ounce blackberry brandy
- 2 ounce orange juice
- 1 ounce pineapple juice
Fill your shaker halfway with extra cold ice, insert all ingredients! Giver a good shake then strain into your cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry. Voila! Enjoy!
