Jest Murder Mystery Company has been performing interactive dinner theater shows all over the country since 1999. So we know a thing or two about live entertainment …and planning a murder.
We now have troupes in 16 different US cities, and are regularly holding auditions to add more funny people to our team. We want these shows to be excellent, so we bring on only the most talented actors and we pay them well. But the benefits don’t stop at great pay.
Jest shows are an excellent way to foster creativity, hone improv skills and work with amazing performers.
What it's like to be a Jest Actor
As a professional working actor of over 25 years, Jest Murder Mystery has provided me something that years on the stage had not… flexibility! With Jest, I have the privilege of making our audiences laugh and have the time of their lives all while making an incredible wage. Performing alongside other seasoned actors is a reward in itself. Truly an amazing company to work for.

Working with Jest has been an exciting experience! At first, I was a bit intimidated by the type of shows that Jest does (because I’ve never done anything like it), but it soon turned into excitement! Working with Jest has allowed me to work on different acting skills while also being able to entertain people. I’m definitely grateful for the opportunity!
One of the best murder mystery companies in the world. Everything that they do with their shows is top notch and an absolute hilarious performance. They do shows as big as 300 people and they also do shows for 15 people and yet they deliver entertaining nonstop laughter.
Doing Jest shows is a great way to hone your improv chops and get comfortable dealing directly with a live audience while making some really great cash. We do various types of audiences, and as long as you can adapt to the situation in front of you, you will never get tired of pleasing the crowd!
It's one of my favorite acting jobs I've ever had! The acting partners I've had the pleasure of working with have all been incredibly welcoming and supportive. I feel like I've learned so much and being a part of giving people a wonderful, memorable experience is so special to me! It's always a whirlwind getting to work on different scripts with different people, but I've definitely grown as an artist! Grateful for my experience so far (coming up on a year!) and looking forward to all the memories to be created in the future!
Actor Application
We hold auditions all throughout the country whenever a need arises. To be considered for an audition when we are looking in your area, please apply using the form below. We will hold your application for consideration for two years and may reach out to you to schedule an audition at any time. Not all who apply will qualify for an audition.

Requirements and Skills
- Must be outgoing, personable and have excellent comedic timing. Improvisational skills a plus.
- Must be able to comprehend, memorize and perform a script on your own.
- Must work well with others and be flexible with clients and acting partners
- Must be a professional at all times and in all situations.
- Prior stage experience required, and you must be at least 21 years old
- Must be extremely reliable (no matter what happens, the show must go on…no matter what)
- Must be have good availability on Friday and Saturday evenings and some weeknights (usually plenty of prior notice given).
- Must be able to provide your own costumes. Jest approval required.
- Some shows will require travel which will result in additional pay.
- Self-starters and go-getters do well in our company. All Jest performers are 1099 independent contractors
- Must own a reliable vehicle.
